What's up with the palm leaves? Was it the long winter? Maybe it's back to nature, or do we just love the fun playful patterns that the palm leaves form.
We carry beautiful wallpaper and fabric books that feature these lovely and trendy patterns. “Tropics” from Thibaut is spot on with its large tropical leaf patterns. The entire book is warm and fun. The patterns are so fresh against a clean white wall. Please see pattern T10127 Travelers Palm. Paired with clean white furniture and Palm Beach shutters from Hunter Douglas your whole room is a tropical delight. Note the coordinating fabric F910127 too. The fabric is great for drapery panels, pillows or seat cushions.
The Thibaut wallpaper book, “Tropics” also has traditional tropical patterns but in nontraditional colors such as light blue, coral, and a very stunning black and white colorway.
Natural Woven Woods from Hunter Douglas can give a tropical boost as well. Check out Mindanao in the woodgrain color for a fun bamboo window shade.
Rm Coco's new fabric book is tropical filled as well. “Inspired Living Volume 17” features a great fabric called Grand Canyon color Jungle. It is a beautiful viscose and linen blend. This fabric is wonderful for drapery or fun pillows. Pattern Protea Garden color Leaf is a cheerful botanical print as well. It would be great in a three season room to bring a tropical feel all year long. There are lots of colorful coordinates in this book as well.
Check out another great topical wallpaper book “Palm Springs” by Kenneth James. You can create an endless summer feel to your walls. Endless Summer Pattern # PS40104 gives a beautiful effect to one wall or an entire room. It has some natural looking coordinates intertwined if you wanted to mix the patterns in a larger space. The design can feel sophisticated and even a bit glamorous if you dare. Pair it with modern tiles or modern furniture for a more contemporary feel. You will feel like every day is a holiday.
Here at the paint store, we are also seeing a trend back to green. Grays are still trending strong but some natural and even deep forest greens are being looked at. Teal greens for accent walls can provide a balmy effect. Check out Benjamin Moore's #696 Crisp Romaine, #CW-535 Buffett Green, #CW-570 Mayo Teal or my favorite color Viridian from the Century line. Used as an accent or for a very dramatic powder room these colors are deep and rich and really can stand alone as a strong design element.
Now don't even get me started on real live palm plants for your home. You will start with one and soon realize you need more for a pop of color and texture. You will want to choose one that grows well indoors. Place a Kentia Palm in front of one of your selected palm leaf wallpaper patterns for a fun play on reality. The greens found in live plants will compliment your fun tropical environment. Enjoy the heat!
