Jay's first blog!

Welcome to our new Thybony Interiors website and my blog .... "Ask the Paint Guy!"

My name is Jay Adams and I am the manager of our showroom in Mundelein.  I have over 20 years experience in the paint industry & I am happy to answer your questions about paint, stains, applications and the problems or concerns you have with using them.

I will answer a few of your best questions every month. Feel free to post your questions below or email them to me at Jay@ThybonyInteriors.com

The first question is "Now that it is cold outside & I can not air out the house, how can I paint inside without smelling the house up?"  That is a pretty easy question since Thybony is a full line Benjamin Moore dealer.  We have two products that are zero VOC and more importantly, almost no smell at all!

The products are Natura and Eco Spec.  Natura is a super premium interior paint available in 3 sheens and an unlimited color selection.  It's fast dry time and no smell formulation allow the room to be put back together and used as soon as the paint is dry.  No silica, no formaldehyde and even the label is printed with soy ink!  We feel that Natura is the best zero VOC paint available.  The Eco Spec line is a contractor grade premium line geared toward institutuions and contractors, but is great for anyone who wants a low odor paint with a less expensive price than our premium Natura line.

Good painting practices can also help with winter time paint projects.  This includes shutting off or blocking the heat registers in the room being painted & cracking one of the windows a bit to help with air movement.  This can help remove the humidity caused by the drying paint, which can prolong drying & re-coating times in a closed up room. Once the paint is dry, you can re-assemble the room & use it that same night!  This is a great feature for those of us painting childrens rooms or with allergies!

I appreciate your business and any questions you have for me. Please check back for more answers to your paint questions.

Thank you for visiting our site and I hope to hear from you soon!
